The Admission Process
Thank you for your interest in applying to Westminster Academy! We want you to find the best school home for you and your family. We believe that Westminster offers a unique curriculum and close-knit community unlike any other found in the Memphis area. Our admission process is designed to help you make the best choice for your child. The best way to gain an understanding of what a classical Christian education truly means is to see it in action. We would love for you to schedule a tour, visit a class, or attend a school event to learn more.

Yes! Approximately 40% of our students receive some form of tuition assistance. Please apply if your family has need. Learn more here.
We ask that applicants for junior kindergarten turn 4 by June 1 and applicants for kindergarten turn 5 by June 1. We rely much more heavily on the results of our developmental assessment than a chronological date, however, so please contact us if you have questions about your child.
Our admissions committee will consider your application only when all required documents, testing, recommendations, records, and writing samples (as applicable to grade) are received. The first round of acceptances will be communicated on Feb. 15. After Feb. 15, we will communicate as soon as possible after the entire completed packet is received.
For the 2026-2027 school year, we anticipate wait pools in several Grammar School grades. Please contact our admissions team for questions regarding applications.
We are so very grateful for the Lord’s blessing for Westminster Academy with an increasing enrollment and interest in our school. However, we still want to encourage families who have interest in our school! Please submit an application so your student can be placed in our wait pool. Through the application process, we will be able to get to know you and your family better. Should spots become available, they will be filled from the pool of applicants with completed packets in the Wait Pool. We very much look forward to meeting you and partnering with you on this important journey!
Each fall, we have approximately 30 spots for new junior and senior kindergarten students, as well as 18 spots for new 6th grade students. We will know the available spots on February 1, after current parents have completed re-enrollment.
Dates and Deadlines
Our applications for the 2025-2026 school year will open on October 1, 2024. Once your application packet is completed, our admission committee will review and send out decisions.

Assessments
JK-1st
For our littlest students, we look for developmental readiness for school with the Gesell Developmental Observation tool. This assessment requires a separate parent and teacher questionnaire which will be emailed to you after you’ve submitted your child’s application.
For junior kindergarten, we look for a chronological age of 4 by June 1, along with the results of the Gesell Developmental Early Screener. For kindergarten, we ask that applicants turn 5 by June 1 and demonstrate developmental readiness for school.
2nd-12th
We require the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or most recent CTP achievement test scores.
If registering for the ISEE, our school code is 432570. All assessments can be conducted on our campus or you can schedule the ISEE at the test site of your choice. To register for a test conducted on our campus, please schedule through your parent portal after completing the initial online application, which can be found here.

Shadow Day
JK-1st
Students applying to our early education grades will attend a morning with our teachers. You will be able to schedule this in your parent portal after submitting an application.
2nd-6th
Applicants will spend a day with our teachers and other applicants in their current grade. This can be scheduled from your parent portal once you submit an application.
7th-12th
Students applying to the Upper School will interview with our Head of Upper School during their shadow day. This can be scheduled from your parent portal after submitting an application.
Records & Teacher Recommendations
Records and teacher recommendations are not required for students applying to JK or K. Teacher recommendations, discipline reports, and other documentation will be reviewed to give the admission committee the best sense of a student’s character. Prospective parents should carefully read and understand the Westminster Academy vision statement. A signed records release will be required to request transcripts from your current school.
Parent Interview
The final step in our process is for parents to meet with either the head of Grammar School or Upper School. This time is intended for us to learn more about your family and for you to ask any questions you may have. We will contact you to schedule this appointment after your application packet is completed.
